HALTER SHOW INFORMATION
The 2012
Southwest Regional Alpaca Show is targeted to be an AOBA certified limited Level III show. Please register early to ensure your opportunity to participate.
You are encouraged to join the AOBA Show Division and also to become familiar with the 2012
AOBA Show rules
Animal check-in and vendor check-in begins at 8:00 am Friday, Feb 17, 2012. All alpacas entering the facility must have a valid veterinarian health certification dated within 30 days of the show, test negative for BVDV and must be microchipped - even companion animals.
Health Certs: Please make a copy of your health cert and retain the Original when traveling to and from our show. We want the copy of the health certificate, not your original. DO NOT make any marks on your original health certification as it may cause problems if you are stopped in transit.
Please see the health requirement page for detailed information and further discussion on Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV). The microchip number must be written on the health certification for each animal. We will have a veterinarian on site for animal inspections.
Any animal failing the veterinarian exam or failure to produce the required documents will not be allowed into the facility.
As an added bio-security measure we will be performing the vet check inside the trailers this year. Our vets will have either disposable booties and / or will wash their feet in a bleach solution. To assist in Friday's check in, we urge you to let the vet check team know that you are there and then wait patiently. Please keep your animals in the trailer and have your paperwork in hand. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated!
Stalls are 8 x 8 on concrete floor. Stall bedding (grass hay) will be provided. Reminder: concrete floors can sometimes be slippery. You can bring alternative floor cover such as floor mats if you so desire, in fact it is highly suggested.
No more than three animals per stall will be allowed; All animals must be 6 months or older.
If you wish to stall by another exhibitor please indicate so in the Exhibitor Registration process. We will do our best to honor such requests, however, we may not be able to accomodate all such requests due to some ranches receiving premium stall placement in consideration for sponsorship at the show.
Please take advantage of our vendor area for your product sales. Please, no sale of merchandise from the stall area. For information on our vendor area please see our vendor information page.
Electrical outlets are available at a cost. Please bring your own extension cord(s). Remember to check the box on the registration form if you desire an electrical hook-up.
Water is available in the stall area.
Security will be provided 10:00 pm through 6:00 am Friday and Saturday nights.
The venue prohibits us from hanging any signage on the building walls. Banners/signs/etc can not be directly affixed to the walls or any part to the buildings. If you need something to be hung on the building, you must notify SWRAS staff and will contact the fairground personnel to have it done (for a fee, of course).
Show Information
Per AOBA guidelines:
- All alpacas must be entered in the name of the owner as per the ARI registration. If the animal has been sold but the registration has not been processed by ARI then a "Buyers Permission To Show" form must be filled out and included with the registration.
- If you are not a member of the AOBA Show Division, we are required to charge a $75 show fee (per farm). This fee pays for you to show animals at OUR SHOW only. You will owe this fee again at your next show; it does not pay for the AOBA show division membership. If you are not a member of the AOBA Show Division we strongly suggest becoming a member and supporting AOBA by paying them $60 once and getting a show division number prior to our show.
- AOBA requires a $6 fee for every animal entered. This is included in your registration fee.
- Show ring attire should be clean and neat in appearance. White shirt and black pants or white blouse/top and black or dark pants/skirts are recommended but not mandatory.
